Welcome

Redshield Estates is a 4,000ha property situated on the banks of the Limpopo River, in Botswana's famous Tuli Block. Redshield is an integral member of the 80,000ha Northern Tuli Game Reserve (NOTUGRE). This area has the largest number of elephants on private land in the world... and we get our fair share of them at Redshield!

photoWith majestic riverine forest at the Limpopo and a variety of ecosystems in the area, we offer visitors a superb opportunity of experiencing the true wild... no game fences, no tarred roads, no managed game populations. The elephants are king here, but they are not alone. There are herds of kudu, impala, wildebeest, and eland. You'll find baboon, monkeys, waterbuck, duiker and bushbuck, ostrich, warthog, jackal, mongeese and squirrels. There are lion and leopard, hyena, aardvarks and the elusive wild cat... and there are birds aplenty for the avid twitcher.

Redshield is home to a pair of marvellous black eagles, and a brief bushwhack will get one up to the superb views at Eagle Rock and a good chance of seeing the eagles up close, really close. The bush itself is fascinating and varied with a few distinct micro-ecosystems.And of course, a visit to the Motloutse River will almost always result in a game sighting, and a sundowner there in front of the spectacular Solomon's Wall is a memorable experience. This striking geological feature was a basalt dyke which the river has eroded a path through.

This is not big 5 country, but this is wild (unlike many places in the region) and this is big ellie country!

Accommodation is self-catering. Visitors can stay at the recently refurbished, yet unpretentious Redshield Hotel or opt for a wilder, bush experience by staying at our Mohave Bush Camp.

Our resident manager, Gerd, can take you on game drives around Redshield and the surrounding areas in an open Landy or you can drive around yourselves, provided you have a 4x4 vehicle. We have lots more to offer... just click on the Activities page.

If you want loads of elephants and game in a wild country, and a truly memorable experience, then come and visit Redshield, a gem of a place in a wonderful country.
