4x4 Game Drives

This is pristine and wild bushveld. The local tracks are ideal 4X4 terrain, and if you have suitable vehicles and want to go it alone, we can show you which routes are open to the public. If you don't want to tour on your own, or just want to relax and enjoy the terrain, let us take you out in our open game-viewing Landy, or let one of our guides accompany you to the best spots.

Walking Trails

There are numerous informal trails in the area. Most popular are walks to the Limpopo River (where one can swim in it if the water is flowing, or walk across the dry riverbed to the South African side). A special walk is to the spectacular Eagle's Rock, where one can take in the beautiful scenery from this spectacular promontory over the Motloutse River. Or ask our guide to take you on other trails on Redshield.

Bird watching

The Tuli Block is renowned for its bird watching. With over 250 species of bird in the area, you will be kept entertained and enthralled by the antics of the Tuli Block's abundant birdlife. Sightings include Secretary birds, Kori Bustard, eagles (Black, Brown Snake, Martial, Tawny, Fish to name but a few), storks, owls, cuckoos, spoonbills, kingfishers, woodpeckers, parrots, larks, swifts, chats, nightjars and the list goes on... plus loads of LBJ's. On one evening we counted over one million Queleas preparing for the night. Of course, the beautiful Lilac-Breasted Roller - Botswana's National Bird - is ubiquitous, as are bee-eaters, Namaqua doves, and starlings.

Relaxation

You are not on a high-pressure package tour. At Redshield we want you to unwind and ease the stress of your everyday life away. There are plenty of good spots to just sit and read, or nap, or just think, and even when you are doing nothing, there's so much to see. You decide what you want to do, and enjoy your stay to the fullest.

Star Gazing

The Tuli Block is one of the few unspoiled areas of the world, with clean dry air and clear skies. If you are into stargazing, our spectacular night sky is going to really dazzle you.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking is a specialized activity at Redshield and is provided for groups of eight or more on special pre-booked excursions only. If you would like to book a trail, please send us an e-mail with details.
